PUFFIN I

Fratercula arctica

I have photographed Puffins on Skomer Island and the Farne Islands, and on both occasions my timing was wrong! They are not difficult to photograph and will happily scurry to and from their burrows without fear of humans. Now classified as ‘vulnerable’, a puffin’s primary food source is small fish and sand eels in particular, which are in decline – probably due to global warming. I will hopefully be back this year, as I want to add the classic shot of a Puffin with Sand Eels in its mouth to my portfolio!
