Nesting Kingfisher

I must be honest – I have mixed feelings regarding these pictures! It was an absolute privilege to see the nest and the six chicks; it felt like a museum exhibition! I did feel somewhat uncomfortable with the situation and the potential risks of disturbance. You have to be licenced to approach a kingfisher nest, and time was limited to five minutes. It was an opportunity not to be missed, but it will be a one-off for me. The great news is that all the kingfishers successfully fledged! You never know, I might photograph one of them next year.
