Also known as the Common Kingfisher, the Eurasian Kingfisher is resident in the UK throughout the year although does migrate short distances in harsh winters. Unmistakable in bright blue plumage it makes a fantastic photographic subject. There are many places though out the UK to photograph Kingfishers, a hide and a lichen covered twig are essential! I recently visited David Plummer’s hide in West Sussex, I lost count of the number of visits! What a great location, what a good day and a good bloke to boot! Diving Kingfisher next!
