EURASION BROWN BEAR

Ursus arctos arctos

The Taiga forest sits between the Finnish and Russian borders in an area that used to be called “no man’s land” – land as remote and wild as is possible in Europe. In the summer, darkness hardly falls, so I had all night in the hide, which was a fantastic chance to photograph one of Europe’s most impressive predators, the Brown Bear. Females with cubs and the occasional threatening male were ideal subjects. I am back in September for some autumnal colours, so something to look forward to!
