BISON

Bison bison

Yellowstone National Park is huge – almost half the size of Wales! It’s an amazing volcanic environment and massive landscape, with which Bison are synonymous. Often referred to as a Buffalo (not strictly accurate), and weighing up to 1,000kg, they are vulnerable to hunters if they wander outside the park, as there are no fences around Yellowstone. They survive the harsh Yellowstone winter grazing on little more than dead grass and sedges. They conserve energy and are frequently on the Yellowstone tracks to avoid walking through deep snow. There are far, far more Bison images to be taken – soon I hope!
