Bighorn Sheep
Ovis canadensis
The reintroduction of the grey wolf, the apex predator, has restored the ecological balance. It has forced elk and big horn sheep off the plains and back in the mountains, allowing other species, such as beavers, to recover, which is great news. You often come across small groups of long horn sheep by the side of the road, trying to find food in the rocky terrain. They are not the iconic species you associate with Yellowstone, but nevertheless worth including in my portfolio.
